A Importância das Artes Visuais na Educação Pré-Escolar

Abstract

O presente relatório de investigação de mestrado – intitulado A Importância das Artes Visuais na Educação Pré-Escolar: As Obras de Arte no Desenvolvimento da Criança – apresenta uma reflexão sobre a importância das artes visuais e da interação com as obras de arte no desenvolvimento da criança, partindo de diferentes experiências que promovem o contacto com obras de diferentes manifestações artísticas (a pintura, a rasgagem, o recorte e colagem, a modelagem e a escultura.), de artistas do século XX. Este nosso projeto integrado no corpus do presente relatório de investigação – tem por base atividades de experimentação de técnicas artísticas com crianças promovidos no estágio integrado no curso, experiências essas, que serão expostas no final do presente trabalho. O presente relatório tem assim como objetivo fundamental a articulação de experiências vividas durante um período de estágio em Educação Pré-Escolar com os fundamentos teóricos da investigação no campo educacional, de forma a estabelecer com consistência a articulação entre a teoria e a prática, numa área que apesar de já explorada ainda apresenta questões em aberto como propomos neste projeto. Para explorar esta temática, foram formuladas duas perguntas iniciais, que são as seguintes “Qual a importância das obras de arte na educação pré-escolar?”; Que competências são desenvolvidas nas crianças, através das artes visuais?, para as quais foram definidos os seguintes objetivos: perceber de que forma as obras de arte contribuem para construção de aprendizagens e competências das crianças; compreender as perceções e experiências de educadores sobre a importância das obras de arte em contexto pré-escolar. Esta investigação é de natureza qualitativa e baseia-se na utilização de um inquérito por questionário direcionado a educadores de infância, bem como em grelhas de observação elaboradas com base nas atividades desenvolvidas em contexto de pré-escolar. Em suma, os dados recolhidos ao longo da investigação evidenciam a importância das artes visuais e da interação com as obras de arte na educação pré-escolar, destacando o seu contributo para o desenvolvimento integral das mesmas.

This master's research report – entitled The Importance of Visual Arts in Pre-School Education: The Works of Art in the Development of the Child – presents a reflection on the importance of the visual arts and interaction with works of art in the development of the child, based on different experiences that promote contact with works of different artistic manifestations (painting, tearing, cutting and pasting, modelling and sculpture) by 20th century artists. This project of ours – which is part of the corpus of this research report – is based on activities involving experimentation with artistic techniques with children that were promoted during the course's internship, experiences that will be presented at the end of this work. The fundamental aim of this report is to articulate the experiences lived during a period of training in Pre-School Education with the theoretical foundations of research in the educational field, in order to consistently establish the link between theory and practice in an area that, despite having already been explored, still has open questions, as we propose in this project. In order to explore this theme, two initial questions were formulated: ‘What is the importance of works of art in pre-school education?’; ‘What skills are developed in children through the visual arts?’, for which the following objectives were defined: to understand how works of art contribute to the construction of children's learning and skills; to understand the perceptions and experiences of educators about the importance of works of art in the pre-school context. This research is qualitative in nature and is based on the use of a questionnaire survey aimed at kindergarten teachers, as well as observation grids based on the activities carried out in a pre-school setting. In short, the data collected throughout the research highlights the importance of the visual arts and interaction with works of art in pre-school education, emphasising their contribution to children's integral development.
